Our ServicesBecome a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) TARP, Inc. (also known as ACTTC) provides credentialing and re-credentialing courses to become a CASAC, Certified Prevention Professional (CPP), or Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS). • CASAC - Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor William Perkins, Executive Director, is certified by the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) to provide the 350-hour certificate program needed in preparation to become a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC). Upon completion of the 350-hour curriculum, a state application can be completed to apply for a CASAC Trainee certificate which will allow the trainee to work in the field and apply to sit for the CASAC credentialing exam. Once the exam is passed, the individual need only to accumulate the required work experience hours to receive their CASAC certificate. This certification is recognized in 39 states, Canada, Mexico and branches of the U.S. military. Course material addresses both theoretical and experiential components so that the learner gains practical knowledge and methods of application regarding alcoholism and substance abuse counseling. You will develop skills in individual and group counseling techniques, assessment and case management, and discharge planning, the counselor's professional and ethical responsibilities, including child abuse reporting, are also central to the curriculum. Courses are also available to credentialed CASACs who need re-credentialing hours. • CPP and CPS - Certified Prevention Professional and Certified Prevention Specialist We offer a 250-hour program to become a Certified Prevention Professional (CPP) and a 100-hour program to become a Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS). See our Classroom Instruction page for detailed information and a link to apply now. • Gambling Treatment Counseling Curriculum The 60-hour gambling treatment curriculum is a very good re-credentialing course. It's certified by OASAS (Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services) and meets the educational requirement for a CASAC (Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor) to apply for the gambling specialty Credential (i.e., CASAC-G). • Consultation Services SAP Services: William Perkins, Executive Director of TARP, Inc., is a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) certified to provide alcohol and drug assessments for employees with a safety-sensitive job position under the oversight of the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT). Program Consultant: Mr. Perkins provides consultation services to AOD (Alcohol and Other Drug) treatment programs to address qualitative and quantitative issues such as Quality Assurance / Quality Improvement, audit preparation, staff training and program development to include new program applications. Print & Media: Mr. Perkins also provides consultations regarding addiction and treatment to the media, film, and print industries.
